A Guide to Maximize Your Time in Old Forge and Its Surrounding Areas

Below are Videos that Will Help You Decide How You Want to Spend Your Time in the Adirondacks

Age Range: 4-70(?) - Relatively easy hike should be fine for anyone

who does NOT have problems walking

Time: ~30-45 minutes to top, considerably faster coming back down

(Plan on at least 2 hours for entire trip)

Cost: Free

Good for a Family?: Great way to get the Old Forge outdoors experience and see something spectacular without too much trouble.  And the price is as good as it gets

Kids’ Likability: The hike seems to a perfect distance for kids: long enough to make the top a nice reward, but not too long to tire kids out and make them start complaining

Final Thoughts: Maybe the best way to see the Adirondacks without climbing one of the High Peaks or flying over them.  Bald Mountain seems to be one of the gems of Old Forge, since the payoff greatly outweighs the energy it takes to get there.  The view from the top never seems to get old, as many locals make the trek to the top multiple times each year.  And since the Trail is open year round, visitors can enjoy a distinctly different view with each season
